AMSUK Golf 2024

Dear All

This year’s event again took place in Leicester at Beedles Lake GC on Sunday 15^th September 2024 as no other town had come forward to host it. We had 54 golfers who played the full course and took part in the competition and 6 casual players who played the Par 9 course and enjoyed it thoroughly from the comments received from them. All the players were given a nasto bag to eat whilst playing and this was generously donated by Bharatbhai Patel from Wembley; second time he has done this very kind gesture.

The towns taking part were:

Leicester : 12 players (included one from Leeds)
Wembley: 12 players
Bolton: 14 players
Coventry: 7 players
London: 4 players
West Brom/Dudley/ Loughborough: 5 players

We had some new players playing for the first time and all commented on how well the event was organised and how much they enjoyed the day.  After the golf, we had a carvery meal (vegetarian and non veg) and Malaben and her son from Coventry joined us for the meal. Again, the meal was enjoyed by all especially the Orange & Passionfruit cheesecake for dessert. After the meal, prizes were presented by Malaben and Hasmukh (president of AMSUK) to the various winners as follows:

Winning Team – Bolton B team with score of 120 points (won on countback)
Runners Up – Leicester B team with a score of 120 points
Third Place – Leicester C team with a score of 120 points
Fourth Place – Leicester A team with a score of 115 points
Best Stableford Score – Dhiren Patel from Wembley C team with a score of 41 points
Nearest to the Pin – Bipin K Patel from Coventry A team
Longest Drive – Sirijhun A Patel from Leicester C team
Nearest to the Centre Line – Bhupendra Patel from Wembley B team

Sincere thanks go to Vinay Patel from Leicester for organising the shopping and putting together the nasto bags and running around both before and during the event helping with the administration. Jayman Patel for sorting out the groups and scoring spreadsheet, purchasing the trophies and collating all the scores with the help of Vishal Dayal as the cards came in from each player.

In conclusion, it was again a very successful AMSUK Golf Tournament this year enjoyed by all despite some light rain now and then.
