Christmas 2024 Message from the President

A Christmas Message from the President of AMSUK

Dear Members,

As the festive lights of Christmas brighten our homes and hearts, I am reminded of the incredible journey we have shared this year as part of the AMSUK family. Christmas is a season of love, hope, and gratitude—a time that perfectly mirrors the values of charity, compassion, and togetherness that define our community.

This season, let us take a moment to cherish the blessings in our lives while remembering those who are less fortunate. The smallest gestures of kindness—be it a warm smile, a helping hand, or a thoughtful act—can create ripples of joy and hope in ways we cannot always see. Let us commit to carrying this spirit of giving and unity beyond the season, spreading light and love wherever we go.

As we look ahead to a new year, my heart is filled with optimism for what we can achieve together. With your unwavering dedication and shared passion, AMSUK will continue to be a beacon of inspiration, strengthening bonds and enriching lives within our community.

May the magic of Christmas bring peace to your homes, joy to your hearts, and countless blessings to your lives. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey and for embodying the values that make AMSUK truly special.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with health, happiness, and success!

With warm regards,
Hasmukh S. Patel

International Men’s Day Zoom Event Hosted By AMSUK Women’s Forum

Namaste All,

Re: International Men’s Day 2024

A heartfelt congratulations to Rekhaben, AMSUK Women’s Forum Convenor, and her dedicated team for organizing the impactful International Men’s Day 2024 event on Zoom, held on Sunday, 24 November 2024.

The event was thoughtfully structured, and the presentation on Prostate Cancer Awareness by Urological Surgeon Miss Jyoti Shah was both enlightening and engaging. Delivered fluently in Gujarati and English, Miss Shah’s talk demystified this important health issue, empowering participants with essential knowledge.

Prostate cancer is a critical concern, with 1 in 8 men in the UK likely to face a diagnosis during their lifetime. While treatable, early detection is the key to better outcomes. Miss Shah’s candid approach encouraged men to prioritize their health and take proactive steps, such as regular PSA blood tests.

An essential takeaway:
“Men must look for their prostate before it comes looking for them.”

Regular PSA tests are crucial because once symptoms appear, it may already be too late. Let’s continue spreading this message and encouraging men to make their health a priority.

The inspiring stories shared by Natubhai and Nainaben, about special men in their lives, added a deeply personal touch to the event, resonating with attendees.

With 36 participants, the session was a success in fostering knowledge, understanding, and a commitment to men’s health.

In closing, I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who joined this important discussion. By coming together, we can break barriers, raise awareness, and support men’s well-being in all aspects of life.
